I will add ours to the thread. Of course it is an Internet hook up. I had gotten out of a 7 yr relationship that I felt very trapped and isolated in. So I was single again. And had been for a little over a year. I was casualty dating. That summer I was dating a girl who ended up cheating on me, but I figured I’d stick around for some fun until after the summer is over, but I knew I would not be able to get past the fact that she cheated on me. Rehoboth is a small town and if I would of left the rest of my summer would not of been so pleasant. She would have been at the beach and bar that we go to. I know bad excuse but still.
Chrissy was in an on again off again relationship that was more off then on, and more fighting than not. In fact, they had gone over a month this time without talking. SO she found out her ex had put a profile on match.com so she did the same. She had a friend of hers helping her with the profile and helping her picking out people to send messages to. According to Chrissy, she had seen my profile a couple of times and wanted to message me but the friend was like no not her.
Near the end of the summer I had put a profile on match as well and one night I decided to message a couple of people. Hoping that one particular girl would write me back. That was chrissy. She was on vacation that week at home and decided to send me an instant message and we ended up talking on aim for about 6 hours that day. Labor day weekend was coming up and we decided to meet that Friday down the beach. We met and chatted for a couple hours and then went back with our families. We talked throughout the weekend on the phone but couldn’t really get away again to spend more time together. The following week we make plans to spend some time together and eventually we were dating seriously. I moved in with her 11 months later and here we are getting ready for our second Olivia trip. We have been together only a little over a year and a half now.
I sill tease her of how she just kept seeing my profile but passing me over, and if it wasn’t for me we wouldn’t be together. I love her to death, and have found in her everything that I had missing in all my previous relationships. Now when I am with her I think to myself, this is the way it is supposed to be, this is how much joy I should feel in a relationship. I am so glad I found it with her.

Since I don't know if you want the short, not so short or just plain long version, I will go with the short one.

Tree and I met online 10 years ago. I was kind of addicted to the online world (can you tell that I am better now?...LOL) and was meeting all kinds of women, primarly in the U.S. Nice for a few flings and a few trips to the States but I wanted to find someone locally....so what did I do? I posted on a lesbian board called the Pink Board Personnel's...based in....nope not the States...In Australia...LOL

Anyway, Tree responded and turns out she was from Toronto. We emailed awhile, spoke on the phone and then met. Now ten years later, we have made a wonderful home together with our cats...and if Tree gets her way, a dog, and we sued the government for the right to be married...and we won and got married two years ago.

One interesting Appendex to all of this. A couple years after we got together, we were looking through some pictures that Tree had taken before she met me...and get this, I was in a couple of them. In a city the size of Toronto (4 million ++), I was in the pictures. There is fate my friends.

If you want the long seedy version, then you will have to buy me a drink in a Pineapple on the trip...and I will make something up for you...LOL

One thing that I forgot to add - we had known each other for many years and had met via the computer, I knew her mainly by her screen name, after our first date, I had to e-mail her to ask her what her last name was - it was the same as the street I live on. Most recent funny was how she proposed (the first time), lets just say I still have the e-mail where she says "What do you think about participating in the Commiment Ceremony they have at the resort?" Such a romatic - but actually she did later get down on one knee and do it the proper way several times.

Love this thread... here is our story:
We had both been on a website and in a thread for butch-femme's in the Atlanta area. Folks on the thread get together about once a month or so for dinner, festivals, bar nights or a weekend in the mountains get away. There was a gathering at Birdi's on the square (lesbian owned restaurant in Decatur), and I finally decided to meet the folks from the thread. Copper was there with her girlfriend at the time (who was usually the one organizing these get togethers). I instantly thought wow what a hottie! She and I and another went outside to have a smoke, and nervous me kept as far away from her as possible. Fast forward to winter, we all go to a cabin in the mountains. Again we find ourselves outside smoking and she suggest we sit in her SUV because it is so cold. Now I have to make conversation about anything other than what is on my mind ( she is hot!). Since she was dating someone - I let things lay, I don't tread on someone elses girlfriend. Fast forward about 3 years, and again I am on my way to a gathering of folks from the thread. Copper is riding with one of my friends, and being completely directionally challenged I call my friend to get exact directions. My friend hands the phone to Copper who gets me to the bar. I am also just getting over a very nasty cold and sound like a frog. By this time Copper is now single and not looking as well as I am, but when I see her at the bar that night, suddenly I am looking. As she is now and has always been to me - she is a perfect southern gentlwoman. We talk most of the night and she asks me to take a motorcycle ride with her up to a work friends house for swimming in the pool. I jump at the opportunity. We also discover that we only live a mile apart. I give her directions to my house on Rogers street and the next day she is there. By this time I have gone through 10 outfit changes and have on one of those small string bikini's - the look pretty by the pool one. Her bike is having issues so we decide to take her SUV. We get to the friends house and get into the pool - and we play volley ball all afternoon long. Remember the pretty bikini - not ment for playing volleyball. I did not get the impresion that she had any interest in me, and I knew that I did not want to set myself up for rejection. The next weekend I am out with friends at a day festival, and get a ring onmy cell, she tells me that she is going out to this bar and maybe if I want to meet her and some friends out there. My heart is pounding - so home it is to pick out the perfect outfit. I again get lost on the way there (different place than the earlier one) and call her several times for directions. I get there and she orders me a drink - I down it, then look right at her and kiss her. Well that lasted all night and after too much to drink she drove me home, let me into my house and goes back to her house (perfect genltwoman). Almost a year later, we are getting married in Punta Cana, moving in together and I now have a GPS unit in my car.

Hi Annie,

Although OT, my switch was always there,( as you say the choice was not), and I always felt closer to women.Growing up in a big, ethnic family, homosexuality was neither condemned nor embraced, so I when I read the menu, the only choice available was Column A , with no column B. I wanted a family later in my thirties, but that was not to be for me. Anyway, my feelings for women bested my astounding repression, and the rest is a very happy and blessed life.

Interestingly enough, my coming out for self acceptance was the easy part. The hardest part was telling my mom. Her acceptance and approval, meant the world to me.

BTW, you're right about Montco, we're neighbors, and have lived here for many years. We are amazed at how many couples live in the burbs of Philadelphia. We go to Lampertville, as we have a nice group of friends that live up thay way. It's always nice to meet new folks. Please stay in touch.
