The starfish have microscopic eyes at the end of each arm; this enables the starfish to view movement and differentiate between light and dark.

Our English language is weird really!!

Why do "slow up" and "slow down" mean the same thing?

Why do "fat chance" and "slim chance" mean the same thing?

Why do we sing "Take me out to the ball game" when we are already there?

Why are they called stands when they are specifically made for sitting?

Why is it called after dark and its really after light?

Why does overlook and oversee mean opposite things?

Why is a bra singular and panties plural?

Why do we put suits in a garment bag and garments in a suitcase?

How come abbreviated is such a long word?

Why do we call a TV "a TV set" when you have only one?

Why is the word phonics not spelled how it sounds?

Amongst the Paressi Indians of Brazil stories tell of the first being, a stone woman. By what name was she known?

Maiso.        Her children became the parents of the stars.

I'll try the gum/onion trick too. Hope it works.

Here's another fact about veggies:

According to the World Carrot Museum, (yes, it really does exist!), carrots are the second-most popular vegetable after potato.

Could be that a high percentage of Canadians are so full of Tim Horton's coffee & donuts that there's no room for pork!!!

And, if you don't know about Tim Horton's, you know nothing about Canada..........so they say. Whoever "they" are!

A typical American (not sure if that includes Canadians too, Evergreen) eats 28 pigs in his/her lifetime.

A Hindu temple dedicated to the rat goddess Karni Mata in Deshnde, India, houses more than 20,000 rats.  (Ooh....now there's a future Olivia trip....NOT!!!)

A 10-gallon hat barely holds 6 pints

Hmmm, I wonder how much a bottomless wine glass holds at the Palace PV !!!!

In Texas, it's against the law for anyone to have a pair of pliers in their pocket............

In California, it's against the law for a woman to drive a car wearing a housecoat........
