Well from what I heard "officially" from Olivia, is that there was some huckabaloo about the horses not being treated correctly and Olivia decided to "boycott" if you may those excursions.  If the truth be known, I have seen first hand a few injuries, head injury for one from being thrown from her horse and another was in a wheelchair for similar reasons.  This could be another reason.  Partying guests just dont take these excursions with animals seriously.  The are on vacation, they are partying and then they partake in and excursion with a large animal.  My partner was a little toasted (she is not used to drinking, it doesnt take much) and she was able to ride.  So, I think there may be a few reasons why we dont do it anymore, um, I dont really think poop is one of them......lol........Sleddog, they could have used you there to monitor the soberness of the wranglers and the horses and perhaps give a little horsey 101.   I got alot of info from your email....about horses that would have been valuable to know at the time.

If anyone has any definite excursions they are doing and would like company, post them, sleddog gave the link.  Perhaps we could set up some excursions together.  Does it sound like a plan?  Gee where is everyone.....well off to work i go today.......I thought for sure this weekend....more gals would chat!  Thanks to the ones that do, it keeps us motivated for the big event!  talk soon girls...........valerie

And, all over a little poop!

Valerie - here’s some good news to report to you – Olivia usually does not offer Horseback riding.  Of all the Olivia trips we have been on – never has one been offered.  As a avid rider an ex horse owner – I don’t like nose to tail rides anyway!  We’re going to find someone prior to going to Club Med to take us on a private horseback ride – one where you can actually “ride” the horse.

On your Mexico horsey thing first clue – if your wrangler is drunk – find another – I know you know that!

Biting - maybe because of the order the horses were walking in – some horses don’t like other horses behind them – some bite to play – there are so many reasons for biting - and some just like to test the rider . . . . . girls, control your horses!!!

They’re like dogs or children – seeing just how far they can push you!

Can’t help your poop problem – Yes! horses sometimes do that!  If you were on the ocean maybe move down the shore a bit!!!

We usually do some the Club sets up and always like creating our own excursions! 

It’s been many years since I’ve been to Zihuatanejo – but I’m always game to doing something different!

OMG Allison, that is so darn funny I cant stand it.  I appreciate the heads up about what body parts to avoid, agressive animals make me very nervous.  With that being said, it sounds as though you had a blast!!  I heard the golfing was fabulous, I dont golf, I would love to learn, I guess vacation isnt the place to do it but I am sure there are other golfers out there. 

I actually leave for vacation on the 23rd of January arrive on the 24th at club med, a day early.  I can not wait.  It just seems so far away because I am thinking of it too much.  I wish I could go into a coma and wake up there!  This christmas stuff here is a pain sometimes...gifts, cooking, fighting with the usual crazy family members as to who is doing what and where.  I have a big family, cant you tell?! lol.....bah humbug.........jk........have a merry one! Keep dreaming of paradise and all will be good!!!!

We have done the swim with the Dolphins thing..well I have, Shell watched lovingly for me to be wisked away to sea.  I swam in Cancun with them.  They were penned in... in the ocean... their natural habitat.  It was really cool!  They swim around and you "pet" them.  They love their back, and fins to be touched..touching the fin is like shaking hands to them!  They reccommend that you stay away from their snout and genital area( OK BY ME) as this makes them "frisky" and they can get aggressive!

They had them swim with us, kiss us on the cheek ( which was more like a left hook as their nose is very hard), and then for the finale the instructors put me/us in the middle of the pen, lying on my stomach, and 2 dolphins came up behind me and pushed me on the balls of my feet out of the water to the shore!  It was quite an experience, one that I am glad i did!

Thanks for the info about the horses..we also had a bad experience..Actually loved the experience, however was not sure that I should be the one riding the horse but rather the horse should be riding me at times..oh that sounds bad but you know what I mean..those hoses are a little malnurished to say the least! 

Excursions???  Any golfers out there??  we are not bringing our clubs for just 1 week, but would be interested in possibly renting and checking our a course or 2!

Good Morning Val and the ladies of the Ixtapa group.....

I have heard of several excursions that may be offered ~

1 The sunset cruise ~ What could be more fun then seeing the sunset while having a few cocktails with you new friends? I believe this excursion will be offered several times.... once for the solo group and then another time for the rest of the group.

2 There is also swimming with the dolphins ~ Which is I hear is great.... from talking to my friends who have swam with the dolphins on prior trips they say it's a must. 

3 Olivia normally plans several land excursions too, however I haven't heard what they will be as of yet.

There is always the option of creating your own excursions....... I think it would be fun to get a group of friends together and take a trip into town.  I would love to visit some parts of Ixtapa that aren't so touristie.... I want to take my camera and see the real beauty of Mexico through the eye of the people of Ixtapa.  Is there anyone that would like to join me on my photo outing? 

Olivia will be sending out the excursion information about 1 month prior to the trip.  You need to complete the form and turn it in to the excursion office the day you arrive, so you have a reserved space on your desired excursion.
