Well it looks like there could be 4 of us for the Xtream cave tubing right now, but we haven't taken a tally of who is choosing this adventure for sure yet.  There were  2 tour groups mentioned here, and i am up for either one.  It looks like 2 gals already booked the Xtream one vs. the cave-tubing.com one, so I would hate to start up another group.  We can just join theres.  In fact, if we have 14 total, then we could be an exclusive group through Xstream.

What do ya say ladies, do we have 14 people for this cave tubing adventure?  Which do we prefer to use, Xtream or cave-tubing.com?

Please chime up if you want to do this so we can see who is interested.  Also, let us know if you actually booked with anyone yet.

BeachGal,

I haven't booked with anyone yet, but just saw further back in the thread that you guys booked with Xtream Tour for the caving experience.  I see that they do goups of 14.  Maybe we could get a group of 14 together to do the cave tubing easier than gathering up 25?  It is all the same caves and apparently the same route to them by the descriptions at the different sites.

I would certainly rather have a dedicated Olivia group rather than have a hodgepodge of other cruisers on my excursion!

Well, Weasel is going to opt for a spoiled spa day in Belize, and then maybe out to a beach.  Depending on when she wakes up!

I'll be doing the Cave Tubing trip and then join her.  I figured this was pretty inexpensive, fun, and being only 4 hours, I would have plenty of time to be back at the boat if I took the morning outing.  It got great reviews and the way I see it, whether it rains or not is not important!  -since this is a rain forest region, I should expect some rain!  In a cave, it won't matter!  -whereas zip lines usually don't run in the rain, and I don't want to get "washed out" upon arrival.  haha  (that was my other option I was debating)

If anyone else is planning on doing this cave tubing tour from cave-tubing.com, let's see how many people we have that want to do it.  If we have 25 people, then we can arrange an exclusive trip for only oour Olivia girls!

Who else is planning on going on this one?

I haven't seen any cave tubing that doesn't require a hike.  But, you might check out the Cruise Critic boards, especially  Port of Call - Belize: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/index.php

Bunny - there's also a space on the Cruise Critic boards under special interest cruising where folks talk about adventures for people with limited mobility.  You might find some ideas there.  I did notice at the new port of Mahogany Bay that there's a company called "Clip 'N' Zip" that appears to be right there near the port.  That being said, I haven't found much other info on them because they're so new.

I am with you, Bunny! Does anyone out there know of a cave tubing excursion that does not require a 30 - 45 minute hike? I would love to have the website and would lose my deposit to book a different trip if I could find it. Otherwise I will be limping through the rainforest, slowing everyone down because I am going to try to get to the river so I can float gently through the caves!

Is there any outing that gets to ziplines or cave tubing that doesn't require a long walk to start it?  Like, are there any options that drive you right to the start point for someone with limited mobility?

I want to do ziplines and cave tubing with my Weaselboy!  But I know a long hike before we get there is out of the question.  I just can't see a cane doing well through a jungle path!  haha

Belize zoo - "The best little zoo in the world!"

This is an excursion that I am considering ...

A woman by the name of Sharon Matola has been called "the Jane Goodall of Jaguar advocacy".  She started the Belize zoo in 1983, "as a last ditch effort to provide a home for a collection of wild animals which had been used in making documentary films about tropical forests." The delightful thing is you see animals in their natural habitat, not all caged up, and they have lots of freedom.

"All animals present in the Belize zoo are endemic to the region. They have not been captured from the wild but rather donated by other zoos, removed from the illegal pet trade, harmed by accident or intentionally or have been breed in captivity."

 http://www.belizezoo.org/

The zoo is located about 40 mins from Belize City, and Sharon (I emailed her) said that transportation is available upon docking.  I will have to investigate that further.

Good Evening Ladies, addthis_pub = 'viator';addthis_brand = '';addthis_options = 'favorites, google, delicious, digg, myspace, facebook, stumbleupon, reddit, more'; =0)document.write(unescape('%3C')+'\!-'+'-') //-->

I have already booked a cave tubing excursion for myself and my partner with Island Marketing LTD. (same company we used for beach experience in Cozumel). We would like to be with a group from the Ryndam. Paula and I have talked about rebooking and losing our deposit. I went to cavetubing.com and found one tour that used ATVs but it also required a 45 min. walk through the rainforest and the whole thing took 71/2 hours. I then went to HAL's website and found  another cave tubing excursion with ATVs. It also requires a 45 min. walk. Is there another cave tubing excursion with ATVs that I have not found? I prefer not to have to walk a long way because of my hurt knee but was going to give it a try anyway for the ride through the caves. Please help with any information that you have.

I do recommend the ATV's to the caves and it looks like they have some nice ziplineing in Roatan.

Zip Lining and Cave tubing are high on our agenda, but we could be swayed by the whole expedition mentioned below.....

Absolutely!  -and I don't want to take hours to drive to places either.  That is scary, as the roads aren't so great and if anything happens to a vehicle, it could take hours for another vehicle to get to you from the same tour operator.  (one reason I am nervous going outside of HAL)

Also, the HAL site is ensuring gay-friendly operators for us so we knwo ther eare no weird issues that could unexpectedly crop up as well.

However, that caving trip does look really good and yes, the tour has gotten a lot of excellent reviews, by gay and straight alike!
