Hi everyone! We are looking forward to this trip! Evergreen, you certainly have been diligent in getting to know  yourself and keeping this message board going. I've probably met you on other trips, but I'm looking forward to meeting everyone on this smaller trip. My partner Kay and I have been together 22 years and this will be our 14th Olivia cruise.

I found this site, some time ago, that seemed to have the most complete listing of concerts in Vienna. Unfortunately it seems that in July there are a limited # of performances.

I am sure Jill can add to this with more/better info, as we posted before, but I thought you might like to peruse it beforehand if you haven't already checked it out.

Hi again. Based on the information we received from Olivia, it says that "Laundry and ironing service is available on board, but no dry cleaning. No self-service available. Irons are not permitted in the rooms due to fire hazard regulations."

Your posting alerted me to the "laundry" question ...... Jill, for those of us who plan pre-cruise activities, do they have laundry facilities on the Viking Europe?

Greetings from Spokane, Washington.  Tracy and I are looking forward to joining our Olivia friends on the Danube.  We are heading to Europe on the 17th and doing some traveling in Germany prior to boarding in Nuremberg.  Tracy has not been to Germany, but I lived there for 3 years while on active duty with the Army so we will go down memory lane.  Our friends are joining us from Maryland.  They too, lived there during their active duty days so we have quite a few memories.  We will be staying in Budapest for 2 days post cruise.  We have rented a small apartment for that time period and are excited to explore the city. 

 We too, have been thinking about our packing list.  We have opportunities to have laundry facilities so this may be the lightest suitcase ever!

HI Again I know we corresponded way back but now the date is getting closer and I surely hope others join in so we can meet in cyberspace before we do personally.

We will definitely be raising glasses for both couples  and many more that we  look forward  to meeting in the cruise or before (i.e. here) , and we are so looking forward , especially, to meeting you. The transfer to Nuremberg was also one of our main "distractors"  to deciding how to do Prague, but we finally got it squared away. and decided to do it on our own..... Either way, Olivia or independently,  we will all have a super time!!!!   We are definitely looking forward to meeting you and corresponding before trip to exchange ideas, doubts, ???  etc..... We are still not  as far ahead as you are on items to pack etc but soon will be getting there!!!

Hi Annie & Marta. Nice to see you posting here...... We exchanged some comments much earlier on the first Danube group.

We are starting to think "clothes" "items to pack" now.

We thought of staying in Prague on our own but decided to do the Olivia "pre" mainly because of the transfer to Neuremburg. So, I guess we'll see you on board & we'll raise a glass (Or two) to our respective anniversaries.

Hi Olivians! My partner- Annie - and I are so much looking forward to meeting all of you in our upcoming trip in July. We have been in several (6-7....lost track ) Olivia trips and every time is a new  and great experience and a wealth of new friends. We have been together for 26 years now.....seems like yesterday...so we're not counting. We are eager to discover Eastern Europe.  We are staying on our own a couple of days before in Prague and afterwards in Budapest as well.  Heard that both cities are superb and have  a lot to offer!!! Any pointers or recommendations from anyone who has been there will be greatly appreciated. Hope this site starts flaming up from other travelers in our trip so that we can get to "know each other"  vis cyber before we meet personally!

The currency used in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic is Koruna also known as the Czech crown (CZK); the Czech Republic is a member country of the European Union but it has still not yet made the Euro as its official currency though Euros are accepted at some places (mostly large Department stores and touristy places.

They definitely were not accepting the Euro in Budapest. However, with that said, I would wait until you are in Prague to exchange a few US dollars fot the Koruna. Maybe enough to cover you in a cab from the airport, and exchange at the hotel if you need more. Otherwise, use your credit card and Euros as needed. :-)

Hi Jill. I read that Euro is accepted in many places in Prague. You were there last summer, is it true?

We just hate to get all kinds of different currencies if not needed. Sure, credit cards are fine anywhere for large purchases but for a coffee (or a merlot!) or any other small purchase we often need cash.
