Kim and I stayed at Anthony's Key.  My only complaint was climbing the stairs to dinner every night.  I have bad feet ( five different surgeries) and after three or four dives I would be totally exhausted with aching feet.Tongue Tied  Other than my own physical limitations, I felt like I was in paradise.Paradise  No phones or televisions in the room.  The dock has a place that you can leave your things and no one bothers them.  The staff spoiled and entertained us every minute.  I must say the coffee was exceptional.  We brought quite a bit home with us.  We didn't have or need air conditioning.  I can't find one thing to complain about.  If you're interested, check out their website:  http://www.anthonyskey.com/

We saw two whales from our boat as we were going out on dive. I had my first up close and personal experience with a shark.Surprise We swam with the Dolphins. Did our first night dive. It was a trip loaded with firsts for us. We can't wait to return!!

I went to Cozumel with dive shop there were two ladies who were in there 70's one was 72 and one was 78.  The 78 year old was an amazing women she was an anthropologest and had traveled to all the different countries she to stated the diving was good in Thailand.  I enjoyed Cozumel received my advanced certification while there i am fairly new to scuba diving.  I received my open water august of last year so that I could scuba dive on the Jan. 2007 cruise then went to Cozumel in June.  I dove in Key Largo, Turks & cacoes, St. Thomas, St Marten.  I am going to Hawaii and will be staying on Maui in March will do 9 dives while there.  There is alot of places I would like to go, Bonaire, Roatan the list goes on.  I just hope I am like the ladies I dived with on the last trip still diving in my 70's living life to the fullest

I have had the pleasure of diving in Roatan and agree it was great. I was also pleasantly surprised at how good the diving was in St Lucia. The sea life and coral were in great shape. I also really enjoyed Thailand (Phi Phi Island). I was unfortunately very disappointed with Cozumel though. Not sure if it is over-hyped or just not good since the big hurricane. And the currents were so fast you couldn't stop to look at anything!

I've also been to Roatan, and the diving is spectacular. We stayed at cocoview resort, which has great dive operations and unlimited shore diving in addition to the boat dives. I loved it and would definitely go back. They have a website if you want to check it out.

Cozumel is also a favorite, since it is so easy to get to from Texas. We dive with Papa Hogs and they are always very good to us!

I dove Grand Turk on the last carribean cruise in January.  The visiblity was great they took us on some decent dives, we had our own equipment so they took us in a smaller group and better dives then the other group.  My partner and I got our advanced certification in June down in Cozumel with our dive shop it was a great time and the diving was wonderfull.  I have wanted to go to Honduras, there is alot of places I would like to go.  I am going to Hawaii in March will be staying on the island of maui for 13 days during whale season looking forward to that  Where did you stay in Roatan???

Thanks for the reply, was wondering if anyone was out there.

Good to know about other spots, many places say, great diving , ya get there and well, does not live up to the Cozumel dives.  I like the visual I got with the mention of the fish tank.  Would like to hear more about where you stayed and want company you used?  How many dives did you do?

LOL, ya, know about getting spoiled after coming back from tropical diving, esp when one dives up in the Puget Sound waterway in Washington state.  Burr, can you say dry suit!!

ok, look forward to more stories.

I have to agree with my wife (robynsleo), Roatan, Honduras was spectacular!  Other than our wedding in Canada this past May, I would have to say that Roatan will be our most memorable vacation.  We hope to do some diving on our upcoming Olivia cruise in January to Grand Turks.  Has anyone been diving there?  Another favorite was Grand Cayman.  That's where my wife took me to get certified as a graduation gift from nursing school.  Now I'm spoiled to tropical dives.  We came home to NC and did some diving in a quarry.................yuck.  Cozumel was a pretty wicked dive too.

So far, Roatan Honduras has been my favorite. The island is magical. The diving is diverse. From wreck diving to just swaying in the surf at 15 feet down, the reef is surging with life. You can feel the energy and tranquility at the same time. It's truly like diving in someone's fishtank.

P.S. - St. Anthony's Key is the best!

Ok, and we are off!  Off to wonderful places with awesome sites above and below the sea.  thought it would be neat to share favorite dive spots with each other that we have been to and perhaps why we found them so magical. Big Smile

Mine would have to be diving in Paradise Cozumel. Yes The island is limestone, no silt and fabulous visability, like up to 300' or more in some places.  Surprise  The dive spots are so diverse, some with miles of white sand, starfish, sea rays and a variety of fish.  Some filled with giant sponges the size of houses, filled with tons of sea life emitting from the sponges and living on these jumbo sponges.

Every spot I went to dive was uniquely different, it was like diving on a different planet, well ya  know, yes diving in itself is like being on a different planet, nothing else compares to scuba diving.  Truely a world by itself.

The water is so clear, and so warm, one truely did not need to have on more than ones swim suit. Stick out tongue  Yet I did wear a lycra one piece over my swim suit and the night dives did wear that and a shorty.  Another thing that was cool, was the colors of the fish, so breath taking, unlike some dive spots where one needs a light even in the day time, one does not have to have one here to see the brilliance of colors, the sun cuts thru the water like a razor down into the depth of the ocean.

The dive crew and company I toured with the entire stay and had a blast, great people, fab. food and lots of fun. Party!!!  Almost stayed there, to be a dive instructor with the company.  Hum, now why did I come home?

I loved Cozumel, and will return some day, the above notes do not due this place justice, it is beyond words, one must go there to see the beauty.  Paradise  Have not found a place better to dive in, as to date.

I have chosen to take my next trip to Nuevo, Puerta Vallarta.  Party!!!  Look forward to the diving on the other side, know that the water will not be as clear, nor as warm, but know it will be another wonderful scuba diving trip to add to my memories. Big Smile  Belize an the Great Barrier Reef are places I would love to get to also, to name a few of the so many wonderful dive spots in the world. Cool

Please share your favorite spots with all of us!

May we all meet up somewheres "down under".
