Does anyone play Casino? My grandmother taught me the game 40 years ago...and I've taught several people...but I've never met anyone who knows how to play it.

Yeah.  We love it.  At the risk of sounding even more dorky that we already do...my grandmother taught us how to play.

Phaze 10 ROCKS! We introduced it to a few people when they would come over for dinner.  Then they ended up getting the cards and introduced it to others and would play it.

How did I know you wouldn’t be able to resist commenting on Phase 10?

But, speak for yourself.  I’m not a dork.

Let it be known that she forces me to play against my will.  And also, I have to let her win or else…

Yes, Pam-Andi, It is like rummy in a way- each round is different.  It is easy to learn and fun to play.  You need at least 3 to play for it to be fun, but too many players is not so good either.  4 to 5 is the best. Seems we are neighbors, too!

We play cards every night while we eat dinner and chat, and we mostly play Phase 10. It's a good card game. Yeah, we're dorks!

Hi C2AT,  I think we played Phase10 once or twice a long time ago....it's a rummy game, right?  We're always up for cards--if you're willing to teach, we're willing to learn!!  ~pam

Hello!

We are card players, too!

Having problems posting messages on this board, tho'.  I hope it goes through. We are on a Mac so I don't know if that is the problem or what.

Would love to meet others for a game of cards.  Any of you paly Phaze 10?

Hi Mermaid,

Andi and I live in Suburban Chicago--on a pond--you'd love it!  When we use makeshift chips for Sequence, we use popcorn for one team and pennies for the other.  It's not an elegant solution, but it works.

We don't know how to play Canasta, but we're more than willing to learn!  Maybe we could shadow you gals and Jayne and Lori and learn?  A game while we're waiting to sail sounds like a great idea!  ~pam

Lori and I are in Fort Worth, Texxxas.  Used to play hand and foot all the time.  If we all bring a deck of cards we should have enough to play.  Pre-cruise party look for us in Texas gear.  We are also part of a hat swap if you are interested.  Lori collects.  We are also going to bring some t shirts from our local bar to trade if anyone likes that sort of thing.  We also have Texas Harley Davidson very close. Just let us know.....

Hi Pam & Andi,

Great to hear from you gals! Where are you from? Forgive me for not taking the time to scroll through all the e-mails to find out...

We will bring our Sequence board AND our chips.  Popcorn kernels would be tricky to stay on the board I am afraid, PLUS I need the color! How do you differentiate between teams with popcorn kernels?

Do you all play Canasta or a version of it called "Hand & Foot" by chance?

We could also think about playing a game or two when we are on the Lido waiting for our stateroom if we are the first to board! We just finished our online express boarding pass and travel insurance so we are SET to GO!  We are soooooooooooooooooo excited and today is the 1st day of March! Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have asked my Darlin' to start packing no later than the 15th so she will not be grumpy as a result of packing at midnight the night before we fly out!!!! NOT a good way to start a trip.

Will check back later on this weekend to chat again. Looking forward to meeting you all too!

Hi Mermaid....I think a second board is a great idea--always fun to have more players--and maybe we can even get a tourney going if we have enough people interested.  Our game came with chips.  But, if yours didn't, I'm sure you can use pennies and popcorn kernels or something like that.  We often play games after breakfast on sea days, when we return from excursions--and sometimes in the evening if we just want a bit of quiet fun (though I somehow doubt that will be the case this cruise--I suspect we'll need a vacation after this vacation!)  Looking forward to meeting you both!  ~pam

Oh Jayne, you gals are a panic--and making the rest of us look bad!  Andi and I are inveterate over-packers....probably because we typically don't start until midnight the night before we leave (there's a reason friends call us the "late" Pam and Andi!)

We are bringing our own snorkle gear as well and I'm thinking that with that and some other fun things and gifts and.....well, we probably won't have room for poker chips in our bags either.  (Can't tell you how many times in the past we've had to shift weight from bag to bag to avoid fees!)

But here's something we've done in the past.  When we get to FL, we can stop at a Walgreens or something like that and pick up a big bag of popcorn kernels.  They work just fine for poker--all we have to do is assign them a value!  And we don't have to bring them home--leaving more room for souvenirs!  Sound like a plan?

At sea days can be pretty laid back...good day for game sessions...the pools of course are busiest those days.  Nights get really busy with Olivia Idol and Shows and Theme nights and entertainers.  We are bringing Rummikub for sure.  Can someone else have some poker ships.  I can get a roll if it can be one color, but our bags are already crammed and heavy.  We are bringing stuff to swap and bringing our own snorle gear this year.....Yes we've packed already....sad isn't it!  Jayne
