I believe a must is to visit the blue chairs while in PV. This is the gay beach where "family" congregates daily. There are palapas, food, drinks, music and generally lively conversation and it's nice and cheap. Also along this section of playa los muertos you will find many, many great restaurants. Whenever we are there with someone new to PV we always take them to Pipis which is a fun yet rather touristy restaurant. Because we tend to be surrounded by gay men (my brother, his partner and their friends) we always end up at Paco Paco for dancing and drinks. But I must warn you that there is usually a lot of nudity as they have male strippers. The rooftop deck is pretty safe from those activities so that's where we cop a squat after dancing. Don't be afraid to take the local bus into town to the malecon and just walk. This is how we have gotten around for many years and the most horrible thing I ever had happen was someone touching my hair (not many dreadlocks in Mexico).
