For those interested in checking out a little bit of local culture and history in and around PV, I've come across a few alternatives to the usual surf and sand stuff.
On Tuesday mornings for people interested in art, there's a FREE Malecon sculpture walk. It's about a two hour walk. Check out this walk (and lots of other cool stuff on the PVScene website) at: http://www.pvscene.com/?p=2872
Today the travel section in our local newspaper had an article about other stuff in PV (besides sun, sand, and clubbing), which included a day trip to the old mining town of San Sebastian as well as an evening sea turtle camp and crocodile adventure offered by Ecotours de Mexico. Both of these sounds fascinating, and I'd like to go! (The contact details aren't in the web version of the article, but I have them if folks are interested). Check out the story at: http://www.timescolonist.com/Travel/Explore+Vallarta+wild+side/1464886/story.html
I think it's really important to get off "the compound" and spend our money to support local ventures, so while I love lazing around on the beach, I like to alternate that with sight-seeing adventures. Care to join me?
