Yes to both but formal night is not as formal as on the big ships. We also had one Tahitian dress night where most wore parareos. The evening dress attire wasusually smart casual and there was no assigned seating.

It offical...we are booked for Tahiti....We booked this trip while still on board the cruise for the cause trip.Every person that we mentioned this trip to that had already experienced Tahiti  got his wonderful glazed look and their excitement bubbled over.

I have a question reguarding evening wear as my wife is already wanting to start shopping for this trip. Is there a formal night as well as a theme night like on the halland america trips?

Look forward to meeting everyone.

We went last year and it was about $ 1200 from Lax. Olivia does not charter the whole plane. They use AIr Tahiti Nui and we were on the same plane as Olivia guests for about $ 200 less per person.  Air Tahiti Nui is also a code share partner with several airlines in case you have frequent flier miles you can use.  I have been watching the airfares myself and it looks like it  is running about $ 1300 this year.  The other advantage we found doing itself ourselves was that we were able to get from our home airport, San Francissc, for no additional cost.  The other cost you might want to think about is the extra day on either side. The way the flights come and go out of Papette almost requires you to come a day early.  The ship waited at least an hour for late arrivals on our departure day which must have been very stressful for those travellig on that plane. Going the day before gives you an opportunity to enjoy Pappette and the resort they use.

Olivia's package is just from LAX or JFK.

Tahiti is incredbile and well worth splurging.  We booked to go back as soon as Oliva posted the trip.

AIRFARE?
04/08/2008, 12:52

My honey just booked us for Tahiti while on the Carib. cruise we just took. It was a total surprise!!! I have wanted to go so bad, but it is SO expensive I would balk at the thought.

Apparently Olivia books a plane from LAX to Tahiti. Anyone have a rough idea of how much that costs (each)? The airfare has me concerned. How much was it for people who went the last time? Just an idea helps.

We went on this trip last year. It was the best Olivia trip we have been on. It was very relaxing, the Tahitian people are wonderful, the water is always warm and the sites magnificent. Our highlight was swimming with the sharks and stingrays.

This trip happens to fall during our spring break next year....would love to hear what others who have been on this trip before have to say.
