Hi Everyone,

Either Jeri or Jill at Guest Services posted this on another forum in March:

Hello -

Your trip does include the transfer from Seward to Anchorage. Guests arriving into Vancouver on the day of sailing should arrive by 2:00 p.m.
Departures from Anchorage should be scheduled after 12:00 p.m. For special discounted airfares visit American Airlines at aa.com and reference code: A5597AA

Looking forward to seeing you in Alaska,
cinmax

Hi all,
We booked air and hotel arrangements today...now we are really getting excited. One thing we can't seem to figure out is we end the cruise in Seward, flights generally leave from Anchorage, does anyone know if there are Olivia arrangements to get to Anchorage or does everyone do their own thing?
thanks..peace...

Greetings Ladies!

We booked this trip while on the Mediterranean and can't wait. We will be staying on the one night pre stretcher. Besides a raincoat, and clothes for layering, any other suggestions on packables? We already have the binoculars set aside!

Anyone from Indy going?

I live in Interior Alaska (the Fairbanks area)and have only visited the Anchorage and the Peninsula , but I agree... Ketchikan and Anchorage are similar in temps..around the 50's F (10's*C) in September.... with Ketchikan and that area getting a little more rainfall than Anchorage, generally.

I chill easy and the wet weather here always feels particularly damp and bone-chilling to me, so sturdy sweaters and/or polar fleece are a good thing to have on hand. Some kind of raingear or raincoat, a lighter weight lined jacket, and a hat or cap with lightweight gloves for comfort's sake on chilly morns, warm socks, comfortable lightweight hiking boots if you're going to be out and about in nature. Like the jacket, they don't hafta be arctic grade rated for minus 40* F :) ....just enough to keep the chill off of you. I'd pack along good sunglasses, a little sunscreen and/or cap. The sun seems more intense up here, too, it seems. ...and the combination of cloudy days on the water can leave you burned. :( IMO, layers of clothing, ...like a turtleneck with a sweater over it... that can be added and removed as the temps change is the way to go.
For anyone planning excursions or post-excursions up to Denali or the Fairbanks area, the "averages" for Mid-September in Fairbanks are nighttime lows of 40F (4*C) and daytime highs of 65F(18*C). The Interior,Fairbanks in particular, is known for its extreme temp swings (lows of -60F (-51*C) in Winter and highs of 90F (32*C) in Summer) . In late August in Fairbanks, I've awakened to frost on the cranberries, stripped down to a T-shirt by noon and then pulled on a sweater or polar fleece jacket by mid-afternoon/evening. Anchorage, in comparison, is much more moderate.

And it's anybody's guess whether Fairbanks will get an early snow this year. Locally, we watch the dustings of snow in the high country for signs of approaching Winter.
You might get a kick out of visiting one of our live Alaska cam sites on the internet that shows the weather outside at the moment.
Here's wishing all of you a GREAT time on your adventure!!!

Joreich...

I live in Ketchikan Alaska and the average temps in Sept. are in the 50's which will be about the same for all of the stops you'll be making. You probably won't need a heavy jacket but you may want to bring some sort of rain coat because we can get 13-18 inches of rain that time of year. I would think if you layer with a fleece jacket and a light jacket you should be alright. But then again 55 degrees to me might feel alot different to you.

Does anyone know what the weather will be like while we are in Alaska? Will we need heavy coats?

Hi Kellie and Susan,

thanks for the welcome. Well, we've done it, looks like we'll be joining you in Alaska. I've been eavesdropping on the board a bit, it's great to see so many of us from the Bay Area!

Hi cinmax:

Don't know about the pool in Alaska, but we hope you book this trip and we'll see you on board and find out together. Looks like we are neighbors, we are down the road in Pleasanton. See ya!

Hi All,

Haven't booked yet, but very close. One quick question for Jefferbelle (or anyone else who can answer)...our first cruise was to the Carribbean and obviously the pool was a major spot. What about AK? Is it covered/usable? Thanks,

cinmax
