Julie now it all comes back to me. I think it was a topic that got a lot of replies before and after the trip and was even brought up by the Olivia staff. I didn't remember the exact reason and now that you've refreshed my memory I remember it all so clearly.

After reading the review site Jana provided Air Tran sounds if not just as bad worse..  Anybody have any thing to say about Air Tran?

Yes Ginger. We got jerked around and ended up cancelling Spirit flights to Punta Cana. They changed the day of both the inward & outward flights. Some people had to go a day early & leave a day early.

When they changed the flights they didn't send a very clear notification either, it looked like just the time of day had changed for departure.

We'll not bother with them again.

Have never flown either one...many people use Spirit to get to Ft Lauderdale…but I hear they also cancel and/or change many flights…maybe these reviews might help you decide which one to take or not take

I've heard a lot of negative and positive stuff about Spirit Airlines and before I buy my airfare I would like to know if it's worth saving $75. It's a airline that doesn't fly out of Roanoke so I've only heard of and about them on the Olivia connect groups..  I've heard how great the fairs were but I've also heard how bad their service is, how undependable and how they hit you up with all the hidden charges..

Also another Airline I've never ever heard about is Air Tran Airways and with them I'd save $69..

So could use some input from anybody who has ever flown with either Spirit or Air Tran..
