Same thing.  The formal night is the Black and White Ball, i.e. some ppl wear formals and tuxedos, others just dress up fancy while others don't dress up at all !  Then, of course, there are the 2 theme nights:  Apres ski and the Roaring 20s.  I for one was glad to not see White Night (I think that's getting old LOL) .  Should be fun !!

I just was perusing the Olivia vacation guide and on page 4 it mentions a formal night.  Is this different from the theme night black and white formal ball.

This is my first Olivia trip but my partner, Rachel0164, is an old pro at this.  Thanks!

Theme nights:
Take part in our exciting theme nights.
• Black and White Formal Ball – dress to impress
• Après Ski Night – pull out that stylish “alpine” wear
• Roaring 20s Night – think flappers, Zoot suits, speak easies, bootleg liquor and the Charleston

I also like the theme of our states.  On the one R Family cruise i joined, with my kids, this was one of the themes.  We're from Maryland so we wore red crab hats.  I don't think i'd do the same on an Olivia trip, but I'd think of something.  Klon-DYKES are good too...Aren't we ALL diggin' for gold? Minda

Ahhh, Klondyke Night...I like that!!!   Visions of flannel shirts and Klondyke boots dancing through my mind!!!  ;-)   Oh, and I've heard that September 19 is "International Talk Like a Pirate Day", sooooo maybe we should have a Pirate's Nite, eh Matey??!!

Just think, 66 days from right now we'll be leaving our hotels to board ship and begin our next big adventure with Olivia!!!

Thats a great idea!! You could go as simple as wearing a Tshirt of your state school. I say simple and FUN!!

Oh I like those.  I hope we get one of them instead of white night.  Ice Queen night would be fun but I don't have a clue of what to wear for that.  Gonna have to think about it just in case.  I was a girl scout, but my motto is really Be Prepared !!

Let's see...for Alaska Olivia's done Gold Rush night...Klondyke night and I think once Ice Queen night...so any of those would be great to do again!!!

White party is kind of old, and honestly has an initial meaning that is important (and not necessarily relevant to vacationing... in a way).

 

I kind of like the KlonDYKE thing. LOL.  Beats Eskimo night, I suppose where we'd all show up in parkas and call it good.  

 

Pirates are another theme that comes to mind, but that's not really relevant to Alaska, is it?  Like that really matters.
