I, too, think it's great info.  I was thinking about bringing in some gluten free crackers and such, but now I think I'll just find somewhere in Vancouver to get that stuff for the cruise.  I like to have my own snacks for going into ports, excursions, and in the cabin, and even though Holland will accommodate special diets, I feel more comfortable having my own stash !

Thank you! I like to have everything planned and ready for customs agents, and security checks. I used to travel quite a bit for work and got used to a streamlined approach to getting through security.

Started to get very excited now! It's really going to happen. It seems like we've waited for so long, that we got used to the thought that "it's months away." Well, not so many months now!

Hi Tink,

Things haven't changed a lot since 9/11....the big things are restricted amounts of alcohol (40 ozs or 2 bottles of wine), tobacco (200 cigarettes = 1 carton) and firearms = ZERO!!  As well there is a heightened sense of checking papers for authenticity.  Then of course any food items are dicey and it depends where you cross the border, so less is better.

I'll try to help as much as I can.    Here is the official website for non-Canadians  http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/noncan-eng.html  It's not too bad to understand.

Cheers,  H & G

Canadian Customs Inspection

Did some internet researching on what is allowed and is not allowed to be brought to Canada from the US.  Got a little bogged down.

Does anyone have experience with clearing Canadian Customs post 9/11? We used to drive over the board all the time with little concern, but the world has changed now.

We don't intend to bring anything unusual, prescription medicine, clothing, cameras, maybe laptop/ipod that sort of thing. Food? Not sure. We usually carry our own on the plane and have no problem disposing of anything we can't bring into Canada, but would like to know before hand if possible. I know meat (which we wouldn't have anyway) dairy, etc feature prohibitions.

Or, does anyone have a link to a website that is user friendly? I spent my research time on official sites and didn't really get what I consider to be clear information.

 Thanks for any help!!
