List of what to pack
03/15/2012, 6:46 AM

Thanks sleddog for your great list. Only thing I can add to it is door decorations ,we found out about them on the connect gp  before we went on our last cruise and we made sure we took some aussie stuff to put on our door. Good way to find your way home after a big  night!

I see on the list a swim suit ?? does this mean the pool is heated enough to swim in, if not the pool are the spas on deck warm enough?

Hi Robin, the face book gp is very active and fun but don't neglect the connect gp, to me the connect gp  seems more personal and friendly, although sending one to one  messages via the connect gp is a hit and miss exercise! Jayne

Thanks so much for posting that!  I think I will head on over to the FB group and see what's up.  My traveling companions tell me it is an active group.

Hey Robin!  Welcome aboard!!

Here's a list someone once posted for the Alaska cruise.  Only pack what you really feel you will need/use...as many tend to over pack on a cruise.  The key for clothes for Alaska is to "dress in layers".  Good rain gear can be important...though of all the Olivia Alaska trips we have taken (this will be # 8)...we have only used our rain gear twice and each was on a different trip.  Olivia tends to bring the sun out wherever she goes even when in Alaska!  Feel free to add anything to the list that you see is missing.

Hello from Central Ohio
03/11/2012, 3:34 PM

Hello!  I am so excited about my very first cruise.  Got a shiny new passport.  I am traveling with 4 other friends but will be solo.  After reading the posts here, I have no doubt that being solo will be a grand adventure!  I have been on the Holland America shore excursion site as well as Alaska.org - great resources for daydreaming.   :)

So far, I haven't really found too many posts on what to pack so was hoping to hear from experienced Alaska travelers.  It gets cold here so I do have weather gear.  Sometimes it's colder here than in Alaska as our local weatherman likes to point out for fun.  It sounds like everything from shorts to parkas!

I so look forward to meeting as many of my fellow travelers as possible.  Only 6 months!

Robin
