You don't think calling amyjo "uneducated"  was degrading when you know nothing about her education level.  It seems to me that if somebody disagrees with your opinion, you go on attack mode.  This is merely a response to your previous posting.

Wow, this is getting heavy. I don't think anyone degraded anyone here (Except maybe Olivia!)

There were merely responses to maryjos postings. Degrading? I think not!

I feel the need to reply.  It seems as if Amyjo has struck a "nerve" with a few of you.  I am wondering why?  I think some of her comments have been interesting and have made me think about the whole picture.  Evergreen and Brewmax have been particularly hard on her.   She has not personally attacked either of you, so why do you feel compelled to personally degrade her? Sleddog has also been involved, but not on a personal level which is totally appropriate.   amyjo and sleddog's exchanges were intense, but they did not lash out at each other and in the end finished with respect for each other's opinions.

Evergreen,

As P.G. Wodehouse once said:      I Like this quote I dislike this quoteI could see that, if not actually disgruntled, (s)he was far from being gruntled.

I'll raise a glass of wine to you tonight, my friend.

Cheers!

I did not start the Discover sweet forum.  I only added my opinion. Many people have commented that competition is a good thing in the lesbian community, as was I.    Just because you don't agree with me you want to personally attack me and put me down by  saying I have uneducated comments.   I have not attacked you personally and will not stoop to your level.

This is a forum for people to express their comments and opinions.  I have seen other people's posts that are not always positive.  Why don't you give them heck too!!!

amyjo. why don't you "laud" the benefits of Sweet on their Forum/website? Most people that post on here are current Olivia travellers &, yes, are very happy with the vacations that they provide. Some might try Sweet, I don't care, their choice.

BUt, this is a social Forum & there's no place for the politics & uneducated comments that you have offered.

It seems to me that you are attempting to undermine/damage Olivia with all that you have said to date. If, as you stated, you have enjoyed many Olivia trips in the past, I do not understand the reasoning behind your comments.

All I have to say.

Over & out!

The Olivia trips we have been on have been very nice.  However, I think competition is also a good thing and another Lesbian vacation company is another choice for all of us.  There payment plan is very generous,  you can even take your trip and continue monthly payments afterwords.

Somebody mentioned that Sweet is taking the same trips that Olivia takes and they were turned off by it.  Most travel companies do book a lot of the same vacations.   Competition is a good thing and as a consumer a win, win especially with today's economy.

Wow!  Y'all are fiercely loyal to Olivia.  They should count themselves lucky to have you guys on board.  I've not been on an Olivia trip yet.  Alaska in September will be my first.  Can't wait to experience what it is that made you so loyal.

I have to say that when I saw the ads for Sweet I thought just that, "Sweet, another lesbian vacation company.  This is great. Now we have even more choices."  I hope that is the case and that no one has ripped anyone else off or anything else dishonest.

Just my two pennies.

I think Linniesgrl has a right to their thoughts/opinions!  But, I hope they are investigating what is for real!

Again . . . Yes competition is a good thing, a very good thing!

But, there is a big difference in GOOD competition and plain old coping of other’s lifelong dreams/ideas/knowledge!

While some may consider Sweet a new start-up businesses with former employees who were/are still loyal to Olivia – that is DEFINITELY not the case here!

I also have received email from them and did not sign up – funny how that happens!

Olivia also does and has reached out to younger lesbians . . . as well as us in the middle . . . as well as older lesbians!  So . . . I see no difference there!

I’m glad that the big O encompasses us all . . . all ages . . . all colors . . . all believe systems . . . all economies . . . and still has room to grow!!!

Olivia has in the past done more adventuress types of vacations - camping trips – biking thru wine country, etc..  And who knows what the future holds???  So . . . I see no difference there!

Olivia has done African Safaris and has a new one planned now.  So . . . I see no difference there!

And as far as Sweet claiming to be a new company that does volunteerism where ever they go – open your eyes girls – Olivia’s already been doing that!  So . . . I see no difference there!

Just on our past cruise – one woman started the idea to give the kids in Samana, D.R. some school supplies.  Well that snowballed and HAL had to crate off the ton of toy/school/medical supplies on the tenders – and still many women took stuff on their excursions to hand out!

As I have said before . . .

I don’t need to ‘Discover’ lesbian travel . . . I have already found what is ‘Sweet!’ . . . and that is traveling with OLIVIA!!!  Travel with the BEST! . . . all the rest are just . . . ‘Sweet Imitations!’

And I too will travel with Olivia for as long as she sails . . . . .

I will always wish good & healthy success to all those with good intentions!  What goes around comes around!

And I’ll leave it at that!!!

I too get newsletters from Sweet. I haven't removed myself from distribution yet though because I am curious as to what they are planning.

So far it's direct competition to Olivia. First the Caribbean cruise, now the Safari. Oh, they also have a "Forum" !! I understand, from someone elses comment, that they will be looking into Family cruises. Aimed at Rosie's share of that business too???

I would have more interest in this company if they had come up with different travel options, not duplication of others.

I have faith that Judy will prevail too. I plan to travel with Olivia for as long as she sails................

Linniesgrl

Your quote," Many start-up businesses come from employees of established similar companies...that doesn't make the former employees disloyal."

Can you look us straight face and say that Amy was loyal?   Trying to take over a business and say she is entitled to part of something she had no part of creating?  Judy has worked long and hard on the feel free experience and I truly believe she will always prevail.  Monopoly?? Absolutely not.  She was one of the creators who had a vision and made that vision a reality.

Names, addresses and email entrusted to a place of business (Olivia) and now a new company, made up of former employees somehow end up with the info???  Sounds a bit fishy to me.

Just my 2 cents.

We also got an email and mailings for Sweet.  Hmm..did someone acquire our addresses.........???  Naw that would be wrong.   Looked at the bios and some are ex Olivia employees.  They do seem to cater to the younger crowd.    We unsubscribed and don't have any intentions of "jumping ship".

We are true to Olivia no matter what.  Copycats are just that..we're not interested.

We believe that competition is a good thing as well.  Our take on Sweet is that they are reaching out to younger lesbians, maybe 1st time travelers.  They have more adventure type vacations (whitewater rafting/camping trip) and seem to be trying to keep the price down lower than Olivia.  We believe there is room for both companies and while we have only traveled Olivia in the past, we will consider Sweet as well.  Many start-up businesses come from employees of established similar companies...that doesn't make the former employees disloyal.  While we believe the type of travel we prefer will keep us with Olivia, we wish success to both companies.  The more choices we have...the better!
