Very cool WhisperGirl. I am looking forward to meeting you, but you'll have to remember that I'm really not that good, but I did work at a group home for mentally ill deaf adults before and while I started working at the Sheriff's Department. So I am not certified, but I am fluent in ASL and hope that I can keep up with you if we get to signing Big Smile  My aunt is also a certified interpreter in Florida.  So, I have kind of grown up around sign language.  I have considered going back as my department has wanted me to interpret in court settings, etc., but I have refused as I am not certified and we know that they have the right to a certified interpreter.  I try to help out when I can though...unofficially Smile

Sorry i can't help ya'll with a memory foam mattress.  We don't make that kind.  We do on the other hand make some latex foam mattresses that are kick butt.  That's what we sleep on and so I am a little biased.

Interesting about everyone's jobs.

I am a sign language interpreter.   My degree is actually in Psychology and Special Education. but I don't have a teaching degree.  I specialize in working in medical situations (hospitals, doctors offices, etc).  I also work as a volunteer counselor twice a month.

 I love what I do.

Well since we're on the subject, I'd like to take a moment to thank the inventor of memory foam mattresses.  Stick out tongue

A couple of years ago (when we were living in a rental house) we had a frozen sprinkler pipe burst right over our bedroom and it pretty much destroyed our old spring mattress as well as a bunch of other stuff.  Thank GOD for renter's insurance!  With the money from our claim, we decided to buy a memory foam mattress and WOW do we love it!  Best purchase we ever made (besides our Olivia trips of course!)

If anyone is considering a new mattress purchase, we highly recommend a memory foam mattress.  Maybe Shawna can hook you up with a good deal...LOL!!!

What a wonderful group of women!!!  My sweetie Kat (on the left) is an operating engineer.   I just love a woman in a hard hat!  Lol!  She's currently working on a power plant project that is working towards reducing carbon emissions.

I manage a mattress factory.  I guess you can say we help people indirectly.

wow!!  teachers... therapists.... police.... home-improvement.... nurses.... etc.  (let it not be said that women have not come a LONG way baby!!!)  we are an amazing group of women.

just wait until the Committment Ceremony.. (if you don't participate, just go and listen)  It is simply amazing to listen to how long some of the couples have endured living as a lesbian couple in a country that mostly preaches and stands against us... it is VERY moving!!  And they are some of the most caring individuals too.  funny how that works, huh?  in a country that doesnt believe in US... we still fight, and care and teach and help heal and cure for it.  hmmmm.

TeamMakary,

Yes; the VA was ahead of the curve on implementing an enterprise-wide EMR (electronic medical record).

Alright Lisa & Tracey...we often shop at the "Homo Depot" because it is the closest to our house, but please don't hold it against us if my partner, Sharrie, prefers Jimmy Johnson over Tony as she used to be an Assistant Manager at a few (Michigan & Indiana) of the big blue home improvement retailers Smile

As to what we do, my partner Lisa and I(Tracey) both work for a large home improvement retailer(The large Orange colored one). I tell ya Lesbians and their powertoolsSmile. But we really care about people too, that they get the info and product they need to complete their projects. I actually got my degree in teaching(yes, Physical Education) but it didn't turn out like I thought it would and I kind of fell into retail. But I really like helping people, we just do it in a little different way.

oh, don't be fooled...I have only worked out my arms today with that Wii. Lest I get on the ball, I will only be in the same shape as Popeye come March. I best go sweat to the oldies and kick in some leg cardio or I'll be one funny sight....and be labled "the big armed girl"
