Hello

My partner and I have a boxer pit mix, Sydney and a black lab Bo.  Syd is about 65lbs and my bo is about 105.  They are the sweetest babies ever.  Sydney is the barker.  Bo sounds like he is going thru puberty when he barks so syd does all the talking.  They are spoiled rotten and that is how it should be.  I wouldn't even know what to do with a small dog......

We lost our most wonderful friend, constant companion and source of much love, affection, and laughter this past Feb 9, 2010.  I would never have imagined that he, 'Louie', would be so devastatingly missed.  He was only seven.  He was not supposed to get cancer and so suddenly be gone.  We loved him.  Just by being, he'd become so centrifical to our lives.  I feel like we've lost part of ourselves.  We will forever have special memories of the Weimaraner personality.  Weimaraner X Setter, we often referred to him as, 'our stubborn German'.    Counter surfer supreme, any edible substance he could obtain was inhaled, (including garbage).  Terrified of storms I would find this very big dog shaking in my closet  with the onset of bad weather.  Jealous when we hugged or kissed, he demanded to be included.  He loved us more I think than we were able to love him.  We were blessed to have him.  So, if you've been so kind to read this note, just give your  dog a big hug from Barb & Wendy and enjoy him or her to your utmost.

hey everyone- just joined this group. i have had my pitbull, cleo, for 2.5 years and would be completely lost without her. she's moved with me 4 times so far and has been just about the only consistent thing in my life in those 2.5 years. she makes me smile constantly and reminds me everyday that society is just ignorant about her breed. she's such a sweety- and thinks she a lap dog at about 65lbs!!!! love her :)

Hi! I just joined this group. We have a black lab mix named Lucy, She is almost 2 and a VERY sweet girl. We also have a 16 year old daschund- and he is the alpha. Lucy will cower when he barks at her. It is quite funny to see a 90 pound horse cower or run away when a 17 pound dog barks at her.  They get along pretty well, though. They both like chasing our cats around the house. They think it is quite fun to piss off the cats.

My partner is anxious about leaving our baby for a week, even though her daughter will be staying here to take care of all the critters.

Lucy is quite the baby. I will say that. If she is bored she will come and stand by where I sit working at the computer and whine in her most pitiful voice. She loves to be talked to.  She will just stand and gaze at you while you chatter away about anything at all. It's very sweet.

I hope to meet some of you on the cruise in March! Getting real excited!Paradise

HI everyone!  I just joined the site!  My baby is a golden retriever, great pyrenees mix.  She's almost two and I have no idea what I'd do without her.  She's epileptic, so we've had quite an adventure together.  Anyone else dealing with epilepsy?  I'd really like to get her on a natural treatment regimen, but it isn't an option at the time being.  Anyway, she's a super happy pup and the love of my life.  She loves to make puppy friends if anyone else is from Iowa...

Hey everyone!  I have a huge pit mix (115 lbs) and a terrier mix (must have been full size terrier or whatever his mix is because he is 60 lbs). They are my saving grace and my kiddos. I'm a little worried about the cruise I'm going on because I've never left them for that long before (8 or 9 days). Luckily I've got some big dog friends to take care of them :)

I love big dogs!  I miss my dogs, since they left with my ex.  She and I were into Chesepeake Bay Retriever rescue for several years.  Over the years, we had 7 of our own, all but one were rescues from our local Humane Society.  They are such a wonderful breed, but not for everyone, as they are so strong willed, hard headed and smart as all get out!  When my ex and I split up, our three girls went with her.  It was a situation where it would have been hard for me to keep my Ginger, along with unfair to seperate her from the other two.  One day I will have another Chessie or maybe a Rhodesian Ridgeback.  I had a female Ridgie who I had to put down when she was 12 years old.  Anyhow, hats off to the Big Dogs!

Ya know, I had recently read about someone with their dog with a similar story to yours...about the leg plate...I hope you were able to find the information there...

we have two chocolate labs that are about a year and a half old.  life with them is always an adventure.  elliott and emmett are their names.  they go to a friend's house every day while we work.  he spoils them rotten - like they aren't spoiled at home...  they dig places to lay in the mulch under our bushes to stay cool in the summer.  they like to "re-plant" the flowers and they also love to rearrange the wood pile on the side of the house.

the dogs that wait for the alarm reminded me of them - they wait until they hear it and then they lay their head on the bed - one on each side.  we live on a corner lot and all the neighbors and kids love to play with them.

i'll have to check out dogster.com - elliott was born with a deformed leg - the main bone in his left leg is not attached to a growth plate on either end.

when we first got them we lived in an apartment that didn't allow dogs.  we had so much fun taking them out in the dark to potty and trying not to get caught.

Golden retriever and English Springer Spaniel here Cool

My golden is an old lady with a bad case of Old Lady Syndrome, but the pup is very happy no matter that his housemate gives him alien teeth on occassion.

We have an account at Dogster.com, if anyone else has heard of the site - the forums are good for gleaning information and personal experiences...

hi everyone!  i'm amanda.  i currently dont have any dogs (which makes me very sad), but my gf and i have been looking.  our friend's mom breeds husky/wolf mixes and we were thinking about getting one.  they are HUGE and so beautiful!  back home in california i had a few dogs growing up.  they included Toby (a golden retriever/saint bernard mix), Fluffy (a cocker spaniel), Dusty (something big and white and extra hairy), and Charlie (german shepherd mix).  I miss having a dog and my gf has never had one before so she's really excited to finally get one.
